Job Description:

 

Duties include but not limited to the following:
The Technical Project Manager business partner senior executive and other staff in the reporting, implementation & governance of multi-faceted, high visibility operational projects. DCH projects may include consolidation Projects such as consolidate/closing the agencies/clusters Data centers, coordinate the transformation/migration of the Clusters and their agencies infrastructure/applications, Provide Disaster Recovery and High Availability services for new Data Center customers, and other Operational sub-projects.


Provide both project management and at times technical leadership thru experience and expertise in data center technologies and data center operations. The candidate will support the successful delivery/outcome of broad range of any sub-projects/assignments for DCH. Daily activities will include but not be limited to:


• Manage project over the full life cycle, from origination through close out in accordance with the NYS Project Management Guidebook R2 & ITS Standards, Procedures and Guidelines.
• Prepare and manage including but not limited to: scope statement, schedule, budget, quality plan, risks, issues and communication plan, etc. Utilize formal project change process and communicate changes with all stakeholders
• Frequent presentations and interaction with high level executive leaders related to highly visible ITS DCH projects
• Manage the project team and its activities - acting as manager to a staff oriented in a weak matrix oriented organization, including negotiating with senior management on resource allocations, project responsibilities and tasking, mentoring and training resources as necessary
• Develop detailed scope statements and document project requirements for complex projects by eliciting business goals, information needs and relative priorities from business users, project stakeholders and subject matter experts. This will possibly include interpreting technical data, facilitating/clarifying & communicating business/technical requirements with large, integrated teams including client and other third-party vendors
• Maintain continuous alignment of project scope with strategic business objectives, and make recommendations to modify the program to enhance effectiveness toward the business results or strategic intent. Direct communication processes to ensure that advisers and decision-makers have timely information needed for quality discussions and decisions
• Identify risks, their potential impact on the project and perform risk analysis, monitoring, and mitigation throughout the project. Perform analysis, write project specifications, resolve problems/issues and monitor to proactively prevent problems from occurring.
• Conduct regular status meetings to ensure health checks synchronize with stakeholder's expectations. Produce written project Weekly Status reports, as well as verbally communicating project status to team members and management which could include project status presentations to executives both inside and outside the Agency
• Producing project documentation and deliverables using Microsoft Project, Visio, Excel, Word, ITSM Service Now, SharePoint, Power Point etc.
• Possessing strong written and verbal communication skills

 

 

Candidates should have at least 84 months experience, and at least one of the following should apply

 

Experience working as Project Management Institute (PMI) Project Management Professional (PMP) certified Project Manager. Provide copy of current PMP certification.

Project Management experience with multi entity project teams in the development and successful implementation of complex medium/large scaled Information Technology transformation projects. Experience should include a variety of technology infrastructure projects and some vendor software (COTS) implementation/application development.

Experience as a Project manager for State-wide Data Center Build/Consolidation projects OR an equivalent work experience managing complex, multi-disciplinary infrastructure rollout projects in a complex environment that includes working directly with vendors and cross agency staff to implement.

Experience with all of the following: Consolidating traditional distributed data center infrastructures into a centralized/virtualized data center environment; using SAN technologies and storage migration techniques, VMWare server virtualization and virtual server migration techniques, and network architectures and connectivity requirements for data center migrations.

Experience using and/or supporting business/project functions in ITSM Service-Now, EMC Isilon file storage, CommVault enterprise backup solution, Unisys Stealth security solutions, Microsoft SCOM & Splunk Monitoring/Log Management system
