Position:  Network Engineer
Location:  Austin,TX (Locals Highly  Preferred)
Duration:  6 Months+

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:   

There is no change in the 5 key things they are looking for:

·         CCNA/CCNP

·         VOIP Experience

·         Routing Experience

·         Firewall Experience

·         UCS – Nexus Experience 

·         Perform support, troubleshooting, and performance monitoring and tuning for the data network at all locations including WAN, LAN, Security and campus networks

·         Understand and implement security best practices within network design and work with security specialists to minimize vulnerabilities, coordinate security planning with Shared Services Security

·         Design and optimize data network topology based on network and system studies, application traffic behavior, and new requirements

·         Provide evaluation and recommendations for network improvements and optimization including ROI reports, solution pricing, and deployment plans

·         Perform implementation, maintenance and troubleshooting of network components to ensure maximum up time and optimal refresh intervals

·         Leverage support providers as required, act as single point of contact, managing service providers on the clients behalf.

·         Understand and implement security best practices within network design and work with security specialists to minimize vulnerabilities, coordinate security planning with Shared Services Security

·         Understand applicable compliance requirements and provide effective audit support as related to network design and components

·         Understand and comply with all applicable SLAs, policies and procedures

·         Consult with users and evaluate requirements, recommend designs, provide cost analysis, plan projects, and coordinate tasks for installation of data networks and network support systems

·         Analyze and resolve technical problems for established networks

·         Provide network documentation, training, and guidance to computing system clients and programmers

·         Participation in nights and weekends on-call rotation.

·         Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

·         Cisco CCNP required;

·         CCIE, CCDP and/or CCNP-DC a strong plus

·         Strong to expert working knowledge of being directly responsible for supporting the development of network capabilities in the area of SAN, LAN, WAN technologies

·         Strong to expert working knowledge of routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, other), DMZ design, and IP address management

·         Strong to expert working knowledge and experience working in SLA-driven environments

·         Good to strong working knowledge and experience supporting network technologies in Vblock, VXBlock, VxRack, or VxRail

·         Good to strong working knowledge in Cisco Voice over IP technologies and protocols

·         Good to strong troubleshooting skills and experience in resolving unified communications problems

·         Good working knowledge of managing and supporting a centralized Cisco Wireless infrastructure

·         Good working knowledge of managing and supporting a fully meshed MPSL network

·         Preferred working knowledge of using Cisco or F5 technologies to load balance datacenters

·         Prefer the candidate has an active Cisco CCNP to a minimum and has had it for at least 4-5 years

·         Assist with providing technical leadership to a client who is completely outsourced

Required Experience & Education: 

·         Required Education:  Bachelor's Degree in Computer Network Engineering or related field plus 5 years experience; (alternately, may possess Master's Degree in Computer Network Engineering or related field plus 3 years experience).

·         Minimum experience for the position is 7-10 years of relevant experience in Enterprise Network Design, Implementation, Administration and Support

·         Previous service provider experience is a strong plus

 Required Skills:

·         Experience with Cisco ASAs and VPN Tunneling

·         Cisco ASA firewall management experience

·         Cisco UCS

·         Experience with Cisco Switches 3560/3750/Nexus 7k

·         Site-to-site, remote access, and SSL VPN experience

·         Big-IP F5 LTM

·         Good understanding of VOIP signaling Protocols: MGCP/SIP/H.323

·         Experience in Routing Protocols: BGP/OSPF

·         Experience with Statseeker Monitoring software

·         Expert knowledge of IPv4 and TCP/IP – design, operations, and troubleshooting

·         Routing protocols EIGRP, OSPF, and BGP

·         MPLS design and operations experience a plus

·         VRF configuration and troubleshooting experience a plus

·         A working knowledge of cabling standards – copper, fiber, SAN, etc.

·         Demonstrated skill in application performance troubleshooting

·         CISCO CUCM/Unity version 9.X/10.X

·         Network capacity management and forward planning

·         Wireless deployment experience a plus

·         Demonstrated Enterprise change control experience, configuration management

·         Project management experience a plus

·         Client consulting, business case input, project collaboration

·         Fluent written and verbal communications, English

 

Physical Requirements :

 

·         Lifting and/or Pulling up to 40 lbs.

·         Sitting, Bending, Standing
