Job Title:Big Data Architect with MapR
Location:San Antonio,TX
Duration:2 weeks
• Current experience working as a Hadoop Architect assessing the infrastructure and solution architecture of existing Hadoop clusters using best practice tools and scripts.
• Strong experience installing, configuring, and troubleshooting MapR clusters including the following:
MapR Ingestion Process
Ingestion data flow (via edge notes or all nodes)
Ingestion performance measurement (NFS client options as shown by mountstats)
MapR Data Access Process
NFS (Network File System) access via the MapR POSIX client
NFS access control with MapR exports settings MapR Security
Wire-Level Security
Required configuration of open-source components (including HiveServer2/ Hive MetaStore, HBase and Oozie) to enable MapR security features.
• Some experience with MapR cluster administration
• Experience assessing server and network hardware performance (CPU, RAM, storage, NIC's, etc.) including storage capacity/consistency, and compute capacity.
• Exposure to the following Hadoop ecosystem components: Hive, MySQL, Pig, Oozie, Hbase, Hue, Drill, Spark, Impala/Catalog/Store, Httpfs, Flume/sqoop,
Any experience using Hadoop for marketing analytics would be a big plus but not required.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Evaluate the functional health of an existing MapR Hadoop environment with a focus on assessing stability and performance in the following areas:
Server and network hardwar
MapR Service Log Analysis
• Make recommendations for improvement and provide knowledge transfer where possible
• Review open MapR Support service requests
• Propose appropriate monitoring solutions such as Ganglia/ MapR Console if applicable and review key performance metrics admins should monitor
• Help customer develop best practice guidelines
