Job description:
The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for developing and deploying architectures, which aligns the foundational technology components of LAN, WAN, VoIP, and Collaboration to enable strategic business initiatives, support stable operations and provide reasonable security controls. The Senior Network Engineer is a member of the Global Network team, which is responsible for the deployment and operation of LAN, WAN, VoIP, and Collaboration for Stratasys globally. The Senior Network Engineer must be versed with the engineering and management of multiprotocol routers, multilayer switches, network security devices, network management systems, network operating systems, and Cisco VoIP. The Senior Network Engineer is the source of Level 2/3 technical knowledge for design and problem management which requires excellent communication, problem management and customer service skills.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following (Other duties may be assigned):
- Define and maintain solution architectures for network components including but not limited to WAN, LAN, Security, Remote Access, and Wireless based on business requirements.
- Design, configure, deploy, analyze, and upgrade network subsystems.
- Develop 18 month to 3 year technology road maps based on reference architecture aligned to business requirements which will drive investment decisions in Stratasys's global network.
- Lead network, voice, and collaboration integrations design, planning, and execution for M&A integrations.
- Optimize the operation of network components through preventative maintenance and optimization activities for network components utilizing analytics and vendor product data.
- Provide level 2/3 troubleshooting expertise for network problems including software protocol issues, performance analysis, WAN/LAN failures and equipment malfunctions. Operate network requiring 24/7 availability.
- Mentor and develop other network engineers.
- Utilize network tools to diagnose faults and to analyze performance. Monitor, create and analyze real-time and statistical reports (eg. security, usage, performance) for networks.
- Participates in collaborative business needs analysis, then designs, installs, and supports network and VoIP solutions.
- Communicate status, business impacts and system changes to team members, business partners, sponsors, management and other interested parties.
- Contribute to project deliverables including vision documents, status reports, and project, risk, resource and financial plans.
- Prepare and maintain network diagrams, operating procedures and associated documentation.
- Stay abreast of current technologies and make recommendations based on knowledge and research
- Identify testing risks and contributes to the overall management of project and risk plans.
- Coordinate and participate in complex testing efforts. Develop and execute testing activities for implementation, maintenance, and project assignments. Review and provide advice for testing-related estimates of effort, duration and resource utilization (Identify implementation inefficiencies and suggest/implement corrective changes).
Essential Education, Skills and Experience:
- BS/BA degree or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of 4 to 8 years of enterprise level network support, design, and architecture experience required.
- Ability to design and troubleshoot enterprise network architectures that include switching, routing, MPLS, EIGRP, OSPF, BGP, LAN/WAN/WLAN, TCP/IP v4 and v6, Cisco IOS QoS features, and Cisco VoIP.
- Must have experience and expertise in a minimum of 4 of the following areas: Routing, Cisco IOS, Cisco VoIP (Unified Contact Center, Agent Desktop, Unified Comm. Manager, Emergency Responder, Unity), Network Optimization, Remote Access, Enterprise DHCP/DNS, Remote Access, Network Security (NAC, Proxy, Firewalls), LAN, Multi-Vendor MPLS interoperability, Global Proxy management, or Data Center LAN management.
- Experience in developing appropriate security controls, and with Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS). Experience in firewalls (stateful packet inspection, configuration hardening, host based firewalls). Preferred experience with Cisco and Cloud based firewalls.
- Experience in designing or implementing high availability solutions (dynamic load distribution, redundant connections, dynamic routing protocols, etc...).
- Self-disciplined, self-starter who can provide leadership and mentor others while resolving complex incidents and delivering projects.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple assignments and priorities.
- Proven ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing to management, team members, business, and technology professionals.
- Ability to analyze complex problems, propose effective solutions and understand and apply business vision and direction.
- Working knowledge of ITL processes, specifically Incident Management, Change Management, Problem Management
- Travel requirement: 10%
