Client has an immediate opening for a Sr. MySQL DBA. In this position you will be working as a senior Database Administrator and MySQL SME (subject matted expert) responsible for training/mentoring a DBA team on Database Architecture, Configuration, Administration, Management and Performance Optimization.
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years MySQL database administration
- Previous experience in gathering and documenting business and functional requirements for database design
- Strong understanding of database structures, theories, principles, and practices.
- The ability to produce and document logical and physical database design while working with users and developers to understand their data needs and relationships to existing corporate data.
- Ability to create physical database designs at the object level, create DDL scripts, define database snapshots, table partitions, and backup/recovery strategy for MySQL
- Database tuning and administration including security management, instance performance monitoring, table space utilization, schema object management, database capacity planning, bottlenecks and offensive SQL activity monitoring and resolution.
- Experience defining data acquisition strategy for source systems
- Strong oral and written communication, presentation, technical, customer service, problem solving, analytical and critical thinking skills are required.
Activities will include:
- Database Administration: Creating / maintaining databases, monitoring health, tuning, administrative duties, installations, support ensuring security and maintenance on databases, maintains schema and database objects, documentation, replication, archiving and backup and recovery strategies
- Database Modeling: Create models for new database development and/or changes to existing ones
