JOB DESCRIPTION:
Client is currently hiring for a SAN Administrator for our premier client in Elk Grove Village, IL this is a long-term contract position in the Finance industry.
- EMC Hardware: VMAX, Data Domain, DLM, ECS, Isilon,ExtremIO
- EMC software: Timefinder, Unisphere+VSI, SRDF, SRM, ESRS
- Cisco Hardware: 9506 switch, and UCS
- TCP/IP, UNIX, SAN, NAS (Network Attached Storage) skills
- VMware/Virtualization experience
- Netapp NAS NFS, CIFS
- Symantec Netbackup, Veeam a plus
- Unix, Linux and Windows Operating Systems
- Cisco 9500 series switches
- Cisco zoning, and command line administration
- Storage provisioning process
- Host level (ESX) HBA configuration
Support and administer SAN (storage area network) technology in an EMC, NetApp and VMware environment. Provide design, implementation, troubleshooting and support functions in production and non-production environments.
Consult with management on long term requirements and participate in departmental recommendations to ensure the Storage department is able to meet those goals.
Install and support storage solutions in a complex multi-vendor environment. This includes installation, testing, troubleshooting and on-going maintenance activities including but not limited to the following:
- EMC VMAX
- NetApp NAS
- EMC DataDomain
- EMC DLM
- EMC ECS
- EMC XtremIO
- EMC Isilon
- Cisco MDS San Switches
- Perform enterprise storage administration activities including management, zoning, provisioning, troubleshooting, and debugging.
- Provide status reporting (availability, performance capacity utilization) as required.
- Use storage management tools to discover, monitor, provision and report on the storage infrastructure.
- Administer Netbackup Enterprise backup software and hardware.
- Participate in projects of medium complexity from design to implementation.
- Resolve complex support issues in both production and non-production environments
- Provide recommendations on ways to integrate new technology into our environment where appropriate.
- NetApp daily administration, including exporting file systems.
- Day to day support working with Service Now.
Education and Training:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business, or related field or equivalent work experience.
- EMC, NetApp, VMware and/or Cisco SAN Certified a plus.
Professional Experience:
- 2-4 years SAN & Backup experience.
- 3-5 years' systems administration experience.
Knowledge and Abilities:
- Previous experience in EMC VMAX SRDF SAN environment.
- Previous experience in Cisco MDS switches
- Previous experience in ESX VMware SAN environment
- Previous experience with NetApp virtual filers
- Previous experience with EMC ECS, DLM and Data Domain
- Strong background in systems administration
- Good working knowledge of UNIX, Linux, and Windows Server operating systems.
- Experience with open systems Storage provisioning, reporting and troubleshooting. Mainframe experience a plus
- Good analytical, communication and teamwork skills
- Experience with disk & tape libraries & backup software, specifically Data Domain and Symantec Netbackup
- Power Shell, Unix Shell or PERL scripting a plus
- Mainframe connectivity a plus
- Understanding of cloud computing and openstack plus
