We have a requirement with our direct client for Senior Data Warehouse Analyst

Position: Senior Data Warehouse Analyst

Duration: 12 months

Location: Olympia, WA

Interview: In-Person

Responsibilities:

·        Determine how the data sources identified can provide the required data.

·        Test data structures to verify that the target databases will work as designed.

·        Set up ETL routines: write the code for SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) mappings that move data from the specified sources; transform it as required and write it into the data mart. The outcome of this task shall be error-free ETL routines that meet requirements and design specifications, and are regularly scheduled within the Department’s Data Warehouse loading process.

·        Write technical documentation. The outcome of this task shall be data model diagrams and SSIS metadata that explain how the ETL routines operate to meet requirements and design specifications. These shall be delivered at the conclusion of the technical construction of each data mart.

·        Provide technical assistance to staff in writing complex data-mart queries, based on the detailed knowledge gained during the construction of ETL routines. The outcome of this task shall be the provision of technical information and ideas to support staff and query-tools experts who are assisting users with advanced, complex data-mart queries.

 

Required Skills:

 

a) Creating and maintaining Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) processes using SQL Server Integration Services.

b) Writing complex queries using Transact SQL for reporting and data validation purposes.

c) Administering and/or managing Microsoft SQL Server 2000, 2005, 2008 r2, 2012 databases.

d) Working with large organizations (over 1000 employees).

e) Employing data warehouse principles and theories, including knowledge of the various tactical approaches to data warehouse development.

 

Preferred Skills:

a) Creating and maintaining Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) processes using Informatica, including use of PowerCenter for SQL Server.

b) Experience using PowerExchange for Mainframe ADABAS

c) Tuning and optimizing SQL Server databases.

d) Understanding database modeling and design principles and ability to use a data model diagram.

e) Performing mainframe-to-server automation, bulk copy and FTP download.

f) Programming in .Net. or COBOL and/or Natural running on an MVS/zOS platform.

g) Creating and maintaining OLAP cubes.
