Software Engineer
Location: Newport Beach, California
Duration: 6 Months, with possible extension.
(TRADING, FIXED INCOME)

Position Description: Seeking a Senior Software Developer to be focused on Portfolio Management support. A qualified candidate should be highly motivated, self-starter who is able to work well independently as well as in a team environment. The candidate should demonstrate an advanced level of understanding of general systems concepts/computer science fundamentals and their application to solve business problems. The successful candidate will excel at taking personal responsibility and ownership of all project assignments.
Primary responsibilities will include:
o Develop time sensitive trade room applications/reports using script language/Java under Unix/Linux as well as SQL, .Net and SSRS.
o Work with stakeholders to understand and document application requirements and to ensure applications are developed according to specifications.
o Migrate existing processes to a new technology platform.
o Collaborate with other developers and project managers to complete, thoroughly test, and deliver innovative software solutions.
o Troubleshoot data or software issues and be able to rapidly implement fixes.
o Gain a detailed understanding of the company's trading operation and provide high level of support and functional assistance to end users.
Position Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and 5 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience with UNIX/Linux environments and scripting languages Perl, Python, and UNIX Shell, awk, etc
• Hands-on experience with Enterprise relational databases, preferably Oracle including complex table joins, PL/SQL and stored procedure.
• Strong object-oriented programming skills using C# and working experience on ASP.net
• Solid Financial knowledge on Fixed Income, Equity and Derivatives
• High degree of initiative and enthusiasm – must learn the company detailed processes and technologies that support Trade floor operation.
• Proactive about recognizing potential improvements or impending problems.
• Superb interpersonal and communication skills are essential, as well as the ability to work well in a team environment.
