Responsibilities

- Be able to evaluate detailed business, functional and technical requirements to create and update technical documents (designs, data mappings, etc.) using high level technical specification documents in partnership with other designers and developers.
- Utilize designs to develop accurate, defect-free code
- Create unit test plans and conduct unit testing accordingly
- Participate in design, code and test plan reviews
- Oversee the work of junior developers, by providing technical assistance, coaching and mentoring.
- Work with QC Analyst to ensure appropriate conditions are identified, provide technical expertise on execution of applications, and support QC processes
- Evaluate and create high level and detailed estimates for ETL development work (projects, change requests, defects, etc.)
- Calibrates estimating factors for continuous process improvement
- Be able to coordinate and work with outside vendors for application development
- Perform performance tuning on both UNIX ETL and Oracle database environments
- Identify support issues and lead actions to resolve the problems
- Other responsibilities include enhancement, performance tuning and support of existing applications
- Exhibit strong troubleshooting skills, perform effective root causal analysis, comply with all Incident Management, Problem Management, Change Management and Service Management practices
- Execute change management activities supporting production deployment to Developers, Quality Control Analysts, and Environment Management personnel
- Requires at least 8-10 years of hands on ETL experience in Informatica tools such as Powercenter
- Strong background in:
- UNIX: 5+ years of UNIX scripting
- Database knowledge/tools (Oracle SQL is a must, SQL Developer, PL/SQL is a plus)
- Full development lifecycle from inception through implementation
- Experience in any scheduling tools such as IBM Tivoli Workload Scheduler, Control M, AutoSys, etc.
- Knowledge of data warehousing techniques
- Excellent English oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrated work experience with projects of complex scope
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field or a combination of related experience and education.
- Good working knowledge of database design, Microsoft Office Products and Microsoft Visio
- Familiarity with both waterfall and iterative development methodologies is a plus
- Familiarity with Information Delivery tools (such as Business Objects) is a plus
