An immediate opening for a Firewall Engineer in the Owings Mills, MD area.
Rate =60$ on c2c
Scope of Position:
- The Sr. Cyber Security Specialist - Firewalls is responsible for the architecture, implementation, operation and maintenance of mission-critical next generation firewall technology.
- The Specialist will focus on consolidation, advanced tuning, threat monitoring and mitigation.
- This individual will also be a member of the Incident Response team and as such should have a background in other security domains such as Intrusion Preventions, Web Application Security.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Design Information Security solutions using industry standard best practices, regulatory guidelines.
- Ensure all security solutions and designs meet local and federal compliance requirements such as HIPAA, SOX, GLBA, FFIEC and PCI DSS.
- Develop project, implementation and test plans.
- Research and evaluate security technologies.
- Implementation, monitoring and tuning of numerous security technologies including Next Generation Firewalls, IPS devices, Web Application Firewalls, Vulnerability Scanners etc.
- Assist in monitoring, investigating, documenting and resolving identified security weaknesses, and recommend documented solutions for improvement.
- Maintain an exceptional level of documentation including diagrams, security standards, manuals and white papers.
- Efficiently manage multiple simultaneous projects.
- Provide accurate and timely reporting on all project deliverables.
- Candidate will be expected to participate in an on-call rotation.
- Ability to effectively communication both technical and non-technical users.
Required Skills & Abilities:
- Experience with Palo Alto Networks (or other content aware firewalls)
- Networking hardware - routers, switches, load balancers, etc.
- Next generation firewalls and application identification and tuning.
- IPSec and SSL VPN configuration.
- Working knowledge of packet capture and analysis.
- Experience with F5 LTM and other components a plus.
- Device monitoring and alerting for performance and fault management with tools such as Nagios, HP OpenView, SolarWinds, or similar.
- Understanding of Intrusion Prevention Technologies.
- Understanding of Vulnerability management – Nessus, nCircle, Rapid7.
- Forensics systems and techniques such as HBGary, EnCase, FTK, etc.
- SIEM such as ArcSight, Q1 Labs, RSA envision or LogLogic.
- A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science or an equivalent combination of education and work experience is required.
Preferred Skills:
- Preferred certifications: CISSP GIAC Certified Firewall Analyst (GCFW) GIAC Certified Enterprise Defender (GCED) GIAC Certified Intrusion Analyst (GCIA)
