Role: .Net /server engineer with DevOps Experience
Location: Glenn Mills, PA
Term: Duration: 6+ months
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Platform Delivery Engineer has responsibility for specific applications/projects. The Engineer works on project related tasks to ensure integration of operations and maintenance to team standards. He/she will be a .NET subject matter expert from a server/infrastructure standpoint and deliver highly available and high performing applications. He/she reviews project deliverables insuring his/her activities meet or exceed service level agreements, and that requested work is completed on time.
Responsibilities*
Role Specific
• Develop automation and processes to enable application teams to deploy, manage, scale and monitor their applications.
• Actively participate in high level team activities such as suggesting architecture improvements, recommending process improvements and conducting tool evaluations.
• Maintains relationships and collaborates with other domains including architecture, business analysis, infrastructure, quality control, and security.
• Provide the integration requirements for architected solutions.
• Service troubleshooting and problem solving across platform and application domains - will be expected to participate in on-call escalations to troubleshoot customer facing issues.
• Work closely with the Platform Operations team to delivery new services and improve the services already in place.
• Assessment and coordination of upgrades and patches/fixes.
• Assist with the automation of core tasks for Platform Operations.
• Provide and enforce Acceptance Criteria for deployment packages, and be engaged in establishing standards for Build Forge or uDeploy integration.
• Help define best practices for source control, continuous integration, automated testing and release management.
• Continuous Improvement: Own and drive improvements to our build and release scripts, tools, and processes.
Knowledge Sharing / Documentation
• Prepare/Review/Maintain standardized documentation
• Conduct knowledge transitions with Operations when necessary
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's Degree
Years of Experience*: 5+
Others: College Diploma in Computer Science or equivalent industry experience
Technical Skills
• Understanding of, and ideally experience with, the principles behind DevOps, Continuous Delivery, Agile, Lean, Kanban, etc.
• Strong understanding of scripting and deployment automation, ideally Build Forge or uDeploy (similar tools, such as Chef, Puppet, etc.)
• Strong understanding of technology architecture and blueprints.
• Good understanding of infrastructure architectural activities by applying select architectural techniques and technical knowledge. Understands and leverages infrastructure architectural principles for cross- functional purposes. Works with vendors as well as internally.
• Good troubleshooting and problem-solving of complex hardware, software and network issues
• Good understanding of enterprise level administration of large scale globally disbursed infrastructure and supporting applications.
• Understanding of development custom code packaging.
• Understanding of F5/hardware load balancer capabilities
• Strong understanding of PowerShell
• Understanding of .NET application performance troubleshooting and tuning
• Understanding of AD and ADFS security
• Understanding of reporting and analysis. Ability to use reporting tools to collect data and to provide output with high level interpretation. Examples include breaches of thresholds, service levels etc.
• Able to work independently and as part of a geographically distributed team
• Awareness of the importance of Information Security and the associated policies, processes and activities.
• Demonstrates basic understanding of IT Governance concepts and ability to ask appropriate questions to adhere to governance; Ability to quickly understand how governance has been implemented within the organization and knowledge of when to escalate
• Ability to utilize and understand basic capabilities of performance management tools. Ability to create test criteria, validate performance tests
• Understands technology and technical concepts; Produces written materials with a consistent approach and tone; Communicates effectively with stakeholders and project team members regarding technical concepts
• Demonstrates awareness of major external technology vendors and understands critical information about future-oriented technologies; Drafts and participates in the development of service agreement contracts with vendors
• Understanding of the concepts and principles behind DevOps, Continuous Delivery, Agile, Lean, etc.
• Experience with Azure Services is a plus.
