Job Overview
Responsible for porting and developing C/C++ code for Title 6 IP Video solution targeted for native platforms. Analyzes, tests, and assists with the integration of new code. Oversees the documentation of all development activity. Assists with tracking performance metrics. Integrates knowledge of business and functional priorities. Acts as a key contributor in a complex and crucial environment.
Core Responsibilities
The successful candidate will function as part of a middle ware development team with a decided focus on the design, development, testing and support of a variety of software geared toward Title 6 IP Video playback on all possible platforms. (Title 6 includes: EAS, CC, SAP) This individual will have a detailed understanding and practical experience in the software development life cycle and have experience in a fast paced and rapidly evolving development and operational landscape. The right candidate will be able to:
- Work independently on complex development problems and provide innovative solutions
- Assist with the development and porting of C/C++ code
- Contribute design considerations for new products or architectural changes to existing products and services
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
Required Skills
- Extensive knowledge of the C++ language
- Knowledge of H.264 codec and MPEG format is a plus
- IP Video knowledge (HDS, HLS) is a plus
- Experience in C#, JAVA, Objective C, AS3 is a plus
Tasks
- Ports software, supports applications under development, and customizes current applications. Assists in the roll-out of software releases.
- Trains junior Software Development Engineers on internally developed software applications.
- Keeps current with technological developments within the industry. Monitors and evaluates competitive applications and products. Reviews literature, patents, and current practices relevant to the solution of assigned projects.
- Works with Quality Assurance team to determine if applications fit specification and technical requirements.
- Displays expertise in knowledge of engineering methodologies, concepts, and skills and their application in the area of specified engineering specialty.
- Displays expertise in process design and redesign skills. Presents and defends architectural, design, and technical choices to internal audiences.
- Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
- Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) as necessary.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Experience/Contract Time
- Bachelors Degree or Equivalent
- Engineering, Computer Science
- Generally requires 5+ years related experience
