JOB DESCRIPTION:

Duration              :  5 Months contract

Location               :  San Diego, CA

 

Qualifications:

Looking for someone with a combination of SAP and DB2 LUW skills. 
 
- The DB2 resource should needs to use SAP to perform his tasks whenever possible.  He (or she) needs to know how to use SAP transactions to:
- Troubleshoot suspected DB2 database issues.  This includes the Investigation of performance issues, abends, SQL errors and lock waits.
- Propose new indexes to improve database performance and measure the expected benefit of proposed index(es).
- Create new indexes.
- Promote (transport) changes, such as new indexes.
- Identify good candidates for data or index compression along with expected space sav ings.
- Perform database maintenance activities.
- Search SAP's knowledge base for instructions and solutions.
- Open incidents with SAP.
- Perform DB2 database backups and restores, including:
- Point-in-time restores.
- Redirected restores.
- Know how to install and upgrade DB2 LUW software.
- Have experience with a Storage Manager product.  Working knowledge of Netbackup is a plus.  
- Have working knowledge of Linux or UNIX commands.
- Know how to develop, test, debug, and interpret UNIX (korn shell) scripts.
- Have good communication skills
- Follow establish change control procedures.
