Position Name: Hadoop Developer with Python exp.

Location: San Jose, CA

6-12 months Contract

Client: Samsung / Tavant

 

We are seeking a developer to join the data analytics team with at least 5 years of software development experience. The candidate must have experience with distributed systems and the Hadoop stack. The candidate is expected to be a self-learner as it relates to new big data analytics technologies.

               

Responsibilities:             

·         Making low-level design decisions;

·         Developing source code according to specifications;

·         Unit-testing code;

·         Applying agile development practices;

·         Designing and implementing build automation system and maintaining build scripts;

·         Designing and implementing version control system;

·         Implementing continuous integration practice;

 

Skills & Experience:      

·         Proficiency in the Java programming language;

·         Proficiency in a scripting language such as Python;

·         Designing and implementing Hadoop map-reduce jobs;

·         Experience with developing and testing distributed systems;

·         Experience with serialization frameworks such as Avro and Protocol Buffers;

·         Knowledge of relation database concepts and SQL;

·         Practical experience with unit testing (e.g., JUnit) and mocking (e.g., Mockito) frameworks;

·         Practical experience with build frameworks such as Maven and sbt;

·         Practical experience with software version control systems such as Git;

·         Practical experience with the Scala programming language (desirable);

·         Practical experience with the Play and Akka frameworks (desirable);
