Job Description :

The Device Migration Architect (DMA) is a senior technical subject matter expert (SME) who leads a matrixed team of SMEs to enable AT&T management of customer network devices. The DMA is a member of the Device and Inventory Migration Enablement (DIME) team which is part of the Outsourcing Transition Management (OTM) organization.  The OTM organization is responsible for boarding customers onto AT&T's network management service.  DIME is responsible for implementing network device configuration changes and configuration management database (CMDB) changes that enable network management.  DIME consists of two sub-teams: Device Migration and Inventory Migration. The Device Migration team is responsible for the technical aspects of configuring customer network infrastructure devices for AT&T management and for the end-to-end project management of DIME's migration activities.  The Device Migration team collaborates closely with the Inventory Migration team to validate network device inventory data.

 

The Device Migration Architect (DMA) position performs both the technical and project management functions for Device Migration projects. The technical functions include network device discovery, network device inventory data collection, network device migration readiness testing and network device migration.  The project management functions span the full lifecycle of project management (Starting, Preparing, Executing, Closing). 

 

The DMA uses multiple tools to perform technical device migration functions, primarily an internally developed, UNIX-based tool called CheckReady / MakeReady. Other commercial tools may also be used such as INCM or Netbrain.  Other technical data analysis tools include standard UNIX shell utilities as well as Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Project, Visio) and SQLyog.      

Must Have Skills:

·         High performer, self motivator, and team player with excellent written and verbal communication skills. Excellent customer service, leadership and interpersonal skills

·         Flexible, dependable with strong negotiation and analytical problem solving skills. Ability to multi-task under constrained timelines.

·         Proficiency using Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, working knowledge of Linux OS, as well as Perl and UNIX shell scripting.

·         Proficient understanding of IP networking and network device configuration.

·         Working knowledge of database systems (SQL)

·         IT technical staff experience in Network Operations, Network Engineering and/ or Network Management System administration - 5 – 10+ years

·         Strong knowledge of SNMP V2 and vendor specific MIBs, e.g., Cisco.

·         Strong knowledge of large, complex IP (MPLS) networks and associated routing protocols as well as utility programs, protocols, (e.g. TFTP, SSH, TACACS).

·         Proficient (CCNA) level knowledge of Cisco device configuration

·         Project Management – ability to lead multi-discipline cross-organizational teams to achieve results under tight timeframes. Perform fundamental project management tasks (e.g. conduct meetings with agendas and action items, build and maintain a Microsoft Office Project schedule, maintain an action items / task list).

·         Prefer knowledge of AT&T GPS/Oracle database structure.

·         Prefer experience with iGEMS GFP-CPE (SMARTS), ACTION and other associated AT&T network management tools.

·         Management Information Systems, Computer Science degree or 5 to 10+ years IT Network experience

·         Working knowledge of  ITIL Processes and AT&T Managed Services Best Practices

·         ITIL, Six Sigma and technical certifications preferred
