Senior Teradata Database Administrator
The Senior Teradata Database Administrator (DBA) is responsible for providing troubleshooting, planning and executing of support responsibilities for the databases and applications critical to the enterprise systems. These responsibilities include patching; preventive and break fix maintenance, incident and problem management and internal projects. The Sr. Teradata DBA ensures that industry best practices are applied with regard to the use of technology, procedures, and methodology. This position reports to the Sr. Manager, DBA with no direct reports.
Required Skills:
- 5+ years of experience in multi-node Teradata database and infrastructure administration
- Demonstrated ability to design, develop, and maintain databases
- Experience working in an Active Data Warehouse environment
- Experience with Backup and Recovery software suites, particularly Symantec NetBackup and EMC Networker, and have a solid understanding of VTL, EDL, and Tape Cloning and SAN technologies
- Proficiency in database security, access management and monitoring
- Fulfill regulatory compliance evidence collection (Sarbanes Oxley and PCI) and audit/database logging
- Plan and support Teradata hardware and software upgrades and maintenance
- Escalate and follow through on incidents created with the database vendors
- Experience with Database Query Log (DBQL) for Query Performance Tuning and ResUsage tables for System Performance Tuning
- Experience with Teradata Active System Management (TASM) for Workload management and priority/exception settings
- UNIX Administration experience managing Teradata systems (Suse Linux10)
- Thorough knowledge of underlying database management systems products and tools such as SQL Assistant, BTEQ, Multiload, Fastload, T-Pump, Fastexport, SWS, viewpoint and DataMover
- Advanced problem solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively with other departments to resolve complex issues using innovative solutions
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize a work load and meet project deadlines
- Ability to adapt in a dynamic work environment and make independent decisions
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule and be 'on call' to accommodate project deadlines and business requirements
- Teradata database performance tuning skills
- Relational Data Modeling and Logical Database Design
- Physical Database Design and Implementation Experience
- Capacity Planning
- Generate Performance Trending Reports and provide recommendations
- Disaster recovery planning and implementation
- College degree in Information Systems, related field, or equivalent work experience
