Position: Business Analyst w/Agile
Location: Augusta, Maine
Duration: 8 months with possible extensions
Rate: $50/hr C2C
 
Requirements focus:
Min. 5 years' experience
Agile/SCRUM/Kanban
experience creating user stories, epics, user personas,  building business cases, budgets and managing product lines
PMO or product owner certification
 
PRODUCT OWNER LIFECYCLE
Participates in offering planning and contributes to the vision, program backlog, and roadmap • Actively participates in the program level backlog refinement and release planning preparation • Serve as a subject matter expert in the relevant product domains. It is expected that the PO will quickly become an expert in the product from a feature / function perspective.
 
METRICS AND REPORTING
Responsible for reporting on results of Iterations and progress toward Minimum Viable Product or other development goals including:
Burn-up charts
Trend reports
Release defects
Customer feedback for maintenance
 
CATEGORY AND PRODUCT MANAGEMENT
Ensures product and technology trends are included as inputs to potential category and product extensions
 
MARKET & CUSTOMER AWARENESS
Develops an understanding of target market and user base and uses this to guide product decisions.
Analyzes user needs to determine desired business functionality • Documents requirements in the form of epics and user stories • Spends appropriate time in field speaking with customers and observing their use of the product
 
PLANNING & DEVELOPMENT MANAGEMENT
Creates and maintains the Product Backlog. The PO ensures the backlog is focused and well defined • Prioritizes and sequences the Backlog according to business and implementation strategy.
Constantly focused on building and delivering the most value within the constraints of time and resources. Build less, deliver more, and deliver fast.
 
CROSS-FUNCTIONAL COLLABORATION & ORGANIZATIONAL READINESS • Serves as the key stakeholder in assigned SCRUM or Agile development team • Works closely with counterparts in Product Management to convey a coherent strategic vision to the Scrum or extended product team • Co-Leads daily stand-ups, Iteration Planning meetings, Sprint Reviews, and retrospectives with Scrum Master
 
PEOPLE MANAGEMENT
While the Product Owner does not have any direct reports, they are responsible for managing key relationships:
Effectively leads the SCRUM or Agile development team • Seeks out and manages stakeholder input and leads stakeholder reviews to provide updates on project team progress
 
KEY ATTRIBUTES
Passion for the customer and for developing great technology-enabled learning solutions (consisting of both software and content) to solve customer problems • A focused executer with strong business acumen, relationship-orientation and customer-focus • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication, presentation and writing skills • Ability to translate business and technical requirements into the form of epics and user stories • Ability to work collaboratively across product management, product development, services, and operations groups • Highly effective at working in cross-functional groups and getting results in matrix organizations REQUIREMENTS • 5+ years of product and project management experience • Experience with Agile Software Development processes (SCRUM, Kanban in particular), including creating and managing user personas, epics, and user stories • Market experience in interactive media for learning, leadership or management development • Experience building business cases, managing product lines and budgets • Experience and motivation working in a high growth environment • Fundamental project management skills and competency
 
PREFERRED
Bachelor or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or Business (or related field) • Product Owner certification
