Job Descriptions
PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Enterprise Data Warehouse project enables hundreds or primarily non-technical business users across HRA, in OMB and in the HHS Connect agencies to retrieve client and case data on demand. The EDW contains 3+ TB of data from multiple HRA and NYS systems which can be used for current and/or historical and/or multi-source for ad hoc querying, via reports, and transactional system interfaces.
Tasks & Duties
• Architect Data Warehouse.
• Install, configure, administer, support, upgrade, and trouble-shoot the databases and all associated software, including security, the WebLogic application server, and Oracle Portal.
• Design, code, test, and support data extraction, data preparation, and production load jobs for the data warehouse.
• Design layout of components, and subsequent migration, to new hardware platforms.
• Installs, configures, administers, supports, upgrades, and trouble-shoots the BI software, including OBIEE and Oracle Reports.
• Develop and prepare documents for the general design of solutions that meet system and security requirements, including the selection of alternative approaches.
• Develop specifications for databases, hardware, network, security, storage and software configurations for the data warehouse.
• Develop, compile, maintain and document configuration of the following: databases, servers, computers, security systems, packaged programs, macros, and utilities.
• Develop operational and installation procedures for hardware, database security, storage and software.
• Develop guidelines and upgrade techniques of new operational procedures for the support of databases, hardware systems, database security and Web based systems.
• Develop detailed systems operations designs for the extract, transformation, and loading of data into the warehouse.
• Work with MIS staff (e.g. managers, senior programmers, support staff, product manager) to plan program code implementation, enhancements and changes/
• Create, test and maintain program code.
• Design reports, audit trails/logs, security mechanisms.
• Provide assistance to MIS technical support staff when they are unable to resolve a program, database, or IT issue by themselves.
• Provide data warehouse-related programming assistance to other MIS programmers/projects as required.
• Tests programs and systems and integrates system modules.
