Experience/Skill Requirements

·         Strong Red hat Enterprise Linux versions 5/6

·         Red Hat Satellite Server

·         Red Hat Virtualization/Clustering skills

·         Strong IBM AIX versions 5/6/7

·         HP Unix experience

·         Scripting knowledge 

·         NetBackup Administration 

·         Good communication/documentation skills

·         Lean/Continuous Improvement experience

 

Here's some information from our standard Job description…

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

·         Support server  operating systems, configuring and installing computer hardware and operating system software

·         Tune and validate server operating systems, troubleshooting and resolving problems and outages

·         Be familiar with software development processes, work extensively with development staff (all applications), and assist in resolution of hardware/software platform problems in complex, layered, client/server-based software

·         Assigns system logon passwords and maintain software logs and system software installation media

·         Provide backups of available servers/software

·         Work with Application Administrator to create and deliver backups of application files

·         Frequently interact with third-party tech vendors and internal facilities staff

·         Interact with database staff (DBAs, system programmers)

·         Maintains library of documentation for system software

·         Maintain a certain level of application support and assist in troubleshooting

·         Batch processing and scheduling

·         Monitoring of server performance

·         Provide technical support to other technical groups and application groups

·         In depth server capacity and performance planning

·         Familiarity of  servers with application software, databases, networking components

·         Investigate and establish server administration standards and provide ownership of server technical expertise of server back-ups, recovery, monitoring standards, storage administration, batch processing and virtualization
