Daily duties/ tasks:
Develop real-time embedded Linux-based Subsea Electronics Module (SEM) software in the C programming language for a new subsea drilling blowout preventer control system (BOPCS) product.
Work independently, and also often closely with other engineers to design, code, integrate, test, and fix SEM software in a computer lab environment.
Interpret requirements and design specification materials in order to properly implement required BOPCS product features.
Document software via formal design documentation and source code comment lines.
Develop high-quality source code that conforms to GE O&G software development standards.
Desired characteristics–
Preference given to applicants with the following experience:
Software development using the Eclipse IDE.
Use of POSIX or System V semaphore approach for shared memory management.
Use of Subversion for software configuration management.
Development of software for use with United Electronic Industries (UEI) control system components.
Tuning / optimizing of real-time Linux-based embedded systems to meet performance requirements.
Development of embedded Linux system device drivers for industrial applications.
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, is critical.
