Job Description:
Senior Capacity and Performance Engineer for Batch
1. Measure/baseline each batch job stream independently and profile resource requirements, execution time and determine optimal run time based on dependencies and both internal and external downstream requirements.
2. Review and identify any system (CPU, Memory, I/O) bottlenecks as well as SQL Server system recommendations.
a. Work with Applications team and DBAs to identify long running SQL queries for optimization for "as is" system
3. Review design and batch schedules and recommend any changes based on analysis of "current As-Is system"
The Capacity/Performance Engineer should have strong I/O performance on and tuning background on VMWare , SQL Server, Network and SAN Storage performance tuning. This consultant will work within the Capacity and Performance Engineering team working with applications and DBAs on performance optimization and will require strong and verbal and written communication skills.
• The ideal candidate will have 8+ years of experience in the operation and support of infrastructures supporting n-tier applications
• Skilled in the collection and interpretation of server performance metrics on multiple server platforms and technologies, including Windows and Linux/Unix. Proficiency with a capacity management tool such as TeamQuest is a plus
• Broad exposure to IT infrastructure components (servers, networks, storage, etc. ) and a solid understanding of their associated capacity and performance indicators.
