Job Title: Technical Consultant

Location: Santa Clara, CA, US
Looking for a candidate who has monitoring one of the passions. An operationally oriented engineer, that is passionate about improving production services through monitoring, scripting, and testing fault tolerance designs.
- Be a lead in the ownership of a rapidly scaling production service.
- Drive continual improvement into monitoring/measurement/alerting practices and tools.
- Provide service dashboards and reports that visualize site availability and performance metrics.
- Collect, analyzes, and uses data to develop insights and build capacity planning models.
- Develop new tools and applications for cloud orchestration, provisioning and automation of operational processes.
- Daily performance monitoring and actions to address open issues
- Perform requirements gathering and analysis to determine appropriate solutions.
- Collaborate with SW Developers and QA on release processes, deployment and scaling.
- Feedback feature enhancements
- Participate in on call rotation
Qualifications
- Experience running a production, customer facing service 24x7 at scale
- 7+ years as a Unix/Linux Sys Admin (centOS, Redhat)
- Strong Experience with availability, capacity, and performance monitoring tools (Cacti, Nagios, Splunk, Gomez, etc.)
- Experience with REST and SOAP API development and shell programming experience
- Experience working in a devops capacity
- Experience with scripting (python, Perl, PHP, ruby, java)
- Experience with Chef, Puppet
- Experience with AWS products and services (AWS Solutions Arch Certification)
- Good knowledge of Database Servers (MySQL, mongo, postgresql)
- Good knowledge of web servers (apache, NGinx)
- Knowledge of storage protocols like CIFS, ISCSI, NFS and data replication methods
- Knowledge of load balancers (F5, A10, HAproxy)
- Knowledge of hadoop
- Understanding of TCP/IP and basic networking concepts (firewalls, load balancers, routing, ACLS, subnets, VLANs, LACP, DNS)
- Familiarity with source code management (Perforce)
