Job Title: Unix Admin
Location: Austin, TX
Duration: 12+month
What will this Systems Administrator be doing…
This person will become the "Hands-On" Administrator and expert on the technical administration and IT operations side.
· Maintain and support an application environment including communications with Customer, COTS product vendor, external interfacing systems, and internal IT.
· Document and maintain external system interfaces, including job scheduling, resolution of interface errors.
· Document and maintain COTS package configuration and support system functionality.
· Maintain system documentation and business reports
· Manage upgrades, patches and the overall release process including developing/executing test plans.
· Implement application upgrades per change management procedures including change control reviews.
What are we looking for in this Systems Administrator…
· Installing, upgrading, maintaining, and administering a Meter Data Management System (MDMS) or similar application system that includes large volumes of data and complex interfaces including job scheduling;
· Strong SQL skills, UNIX/Linux navigation, and exposure to Unix shell scripting.
· Java programming.
· Strong communication skills
· Prior experience in managing a new system during its initial stabilization phase.
Systems Administrator qualifications…
· 5 or more years of experience,
· 3 or more years supporting enterprise application systems as an application system administrator.
· 3 or more years of experience documenting and communicating technologies, processes, and procedures supporting enterprise application systems as an application system administrator
· 3 or more years supporting applications on AIX/Unix with shell scripting.
· 3 or more years of experience supporting a large application environment (with large amount of data and interfaces) as an application system administrator
· 2 or more years of experience in Oracle PL/SQL
· 2 or more years of experience in Java programming
