Position: Transmission Engineer

Location: LA, CA

Duration:  12+ months

Client: Wipro

Job Description:

·         Good understanding of the Optical Networks comprising PDH, SONET/SDH, DWDM and ROADM network elements

·         Good understanding of network protection and routing schemes like MSP, ASON

·         Understanding of leased line at TDM and IP layers

·         Knowledge of EoSONET, EoOTN, GFP, LCAS concepts

·         Understanding of clock and their flow in optical networks

·         Successfully engage in multiple initiatives simultaneously

·         Work independently with users to define concepts and under direction of project managers

·         Strong analytical skills required, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translate them into application and operational requirements

·         Assist in deciding roadmap of optical transmission layer and discuss with customer about options and advantages / disadvantages of each of the options

·         Help in evaluating different equipment based on transmission technologies like SONET/SDH, DWDM, ROADM and optical access technologies like FTTX/ GPON etc.

·         Translate the customer's requirements into network planning inputs for equipment vendors

·         Evaluation of the network planning and solution provided by OEMs

·         Preparing the implementation plan for the network rollout

·         Elicit Network details and requirements using interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, surveys, site visits, use cases, scenarios, business analysis, task and workflow analysis
