JOB DESCRIPTION:

 

- The selected individual will be required to write conversion code from an existing structure in MySQL to a new structure in MySQL using MySQL SQL language.  - This will take place between 2 databases on the same server.  They should be proficient in verifying new data types, conversion between the various existing 

data types and the new data types, and building check tables for converting ENUM to INT.  

- They will be provided with a basic mapping document, and will be responsible for suggesting data types that are more appropriate as needed.  

- The conversion will include single table to single table, single table to multiple tables, and multiple tables to multiple tables as described by the conversion document.  

- Converting from MyISAM to InnoDB will also be required, as well as preparing for eventual migration to ExtraDB.

- The selected individual must be familiar with MySQL 5.5 and 5.6 as implemented by Percona, differences between InnoDB, MyISAM and ExtraDB storage engines, and the storage requirements and limitations of each of the engines.

- Familiarity with query tuning and reconstruction of queries between the two environments is essential.  Determining data placement on the physical media would be nice to have.
