Cognos Developer – 3+ month contract located northwest of DFW Airport*********** Rate $55/hr.


Required:
At least 5-8 years of application analysis, design, development and maintenance experience that includes Cognos and Microsoft's solutions along with strong SQL Server experience required
T-SQL experience (advanced)

Cognos Framework Manager 10

Cognos Report Studio 10

Cognos report bursting techniques

Data warehouse design principles

Preferred:

Data warehouses on Microsoft SQL Server

Understanding of ETL processes, for example SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)

Other skills:

Proficient or expert knowledge on related technical skill sets and technologies including but not limited to Cognos (Reporting and Framework Modeling), SQL Server, SSRS, SSIS
Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with others; conducts working relationships in a manner acceptable to others and to the organization

Under general supervision, the Senior Developer Business Intelligence develops and supports systems and reporting functions and assumes responsibility for the administration, documentation, support and troubleshooting of these systems. This position participates in all phases of the software implementation process including package and custom development. Software development and report generation processes will include requirements gathering and analysis, functional design, technical design, coding/report writing, testing, implementation, and post implementation support. This role interacts with a supervisor frequently, perhaps several times a week, to receive guidance and direction. Most non-routine decisions require a supervisor's prior approval.

Duties:

Develop and support existing system applications and future system applications and reporting using best practice tools. Included in this tool set are Cognos, SSRS, SSIS, SQL
Analyze, design, develop, maintain, monitor and support complex applications within the international systems environment and implement robust, maintainable solutions that meet the established business requirements.
Establish and enforce software development best practices.
Develop and maintain technical and project documentation.
Develop test plans and work with QA to establish test processes.
Provide recommendation to management, based on current and emerging technologies, on methods to reduce costs, improve performance and availability, and reduce administration time for store information systems.
Research, test, and apply all applicable patches.
Work closely and cooperatively with others in a highly collaborative work environment
Prepare and present status reports to department leaders and stakeholders as frequently as needed
Escalate material issues to supervisors quickly to prevent costly project delays and general implementation issues
Manage relationship in a manner acceptable to others and to the organization
Leverage external relationship in non-competing organizations to identify and utilize evolving best practices Model the high level of customer service expected of all associates including, but not limited to, responding to voice mails and emails within organizationally defined timeframes, completing projects as committed, responding to others' feedback appropriately, and making optimal use of organizationally limited resources by offering assistance to other functional teams when appropriate
