Title: Window Server Engineer

Location: Fort Worth, TX

Position Type: 6 Months Contract

Rate: DOE

 

Description: General Summary:

The senior application engineer position involves the design, configuration, and administration of Windows servers as well as the support and deployment of .NET applications in a highly dynamic environment. The senior engineer works closely with a number of other teams in support of operational and project related activities, troubleshooting complex issues, and implementing automation solutions. He or she is comfortable in a faced-paced environment. He or she is a self-starter, capable of working autonomously with little direction and/or as part of a diverse team. The senior application engineer is a multi-tasker, capable of working with a variety of technical disciplines, and often under tight deadlines.

 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Manage and support Windows 2008 & 2012 Servers in a load balanced environment.

Support of in-house and vendor products.

Automation of processes using PowerShell, C#, or other scripting languages.

Display strong inter-personal, verbal, and written communication skills.

Be self-motivated and able to meet objectives with little or no direct supervision

Act as part of a team to evaluate solutions, troubleshoot problems, and maintain applications and their underlying systems

Ability to analyze trends and provide implementation plans

Design systems and platforms to meet project and user requirements

Provide advanced troubleshooting for Windows Servers, Hardware, and applications

Provide 24 x 7 on call support as part of a scheduled rotation with other team members.

Provide mentoring to fellow administrators

Provide specifications to configure and tune hardware and software to insure optimum performance and resource utilization

Generate technical support documentation for systems and application

Perform other assignments as needed

 

Requirements   Experience and Education

Minimum 5 years in a +100 server Windows environment.

Bachelors in Computer Science or equivalent work experience

Preferred proficiency with monitoring tools like Logic Monitor, New Relic, SCOM

Experience debugging applications, services, and network problems

Experience designing and engineering systems software specifications

Helpful experiences include: Professional experience in Lending or Financial Services, E-Commerce, supporting development teams in a .NET environment

 

Required Skills, Abilities, Soft Skill Factors

Must be a detail-oriented, security conscious, and proficient in troubleshooting.

Strong knowledge of Microsoft Server 2008/2012,  Power Shell or other scripting technologies, Active Directory design and administration

Fluency with appropriate advanced administration tools as well as the entire Microsoft Office suite.

Excellent written and verbal communications skills are a must.

Comfortable in a fast-pace environment, working across multiple projects simultaneously.

Must have the desire to work on new, innovative, cutting edge technologies.
