Job Description

This is really a Cognos Admin not a developer.

• The candidate will have deep knowledge of Business Intelligence and the ability to plan, design, develop, install, monitor and maintain an enterprise
  business intelligence environment while ensuring high levels of application performance, availability and scalability.
• The role requires experience in the administration, configuration, security, monitoring, maintenance and installation of the Cognos suite of tools.
• Duties will also include troubleshooting, data analysis, upgrade projects, and providing insight on newer reporting technologies to help drive efficient information
  delivery, as well as support of existing internal and vendor-interfacing systems and processes as well as documentation of information using templates and methodologies.
• Responsible for providing analysis and standards for design, performance, configuration and installation as well as providing technical support and
  diagnostic troubleshooting of servers and applications.
• Managing multiple technology structures across multiple platforms and has a proactive maintenance strategy. 
 
Administration:

• Experience maintaining a multi-server Cognos environment
• Installation, configuration, administration and maintenance of business-critical Cognos product set in a 24x7 production environment.
  This position requires working with developers and architects to make design changes to improve the performance and stability of the Cognos environment.
• Perform backup, upgrades, set up security, roles and users, and troubleshoot by understanding the various log messages
• Create and maintain installation documentation and architectural diagrams
• Interface with different departments within the organization regarding new deployments
• Research/analyze data processing functions, methods and procedures
• Monitor systems capacity and performance, plan and execute disaster recovery procedures Report Development:
Design, troubleshoot, develop Complex Reports (List, Crosstab, Drill through, Master-Detail, Charts, Maps, multi-query, multi-prompt reports, burst   reports) and Dashboards and Active Reports using Report studio
• Responsibilities may also include identifying areas of performance degradation, deficiencies, reviewing IT requirements/design/development of Cognos     solutions, solution architecture development, proof of concept/prototype design, infrastructure requirements development, database design, architecture and administration, application development, testing and analyzing user interfaces, cubes and various reports and providing insight on newer technologies to help drive efficient information delivery, as well as support of existing internal and vendor-interfacing systems and processes as well as documentation.
• 5+ years of Business Intelligence / Analytics skills in IBM Cognos or outstanding experience in equivalent.
• Proficiency in PL/SQL (Oracle preferred), Excel, and Office tools required
• Ability to maximize technology expertise to deliver re-usable and scalable business process enhancements
• Ability to effectively take initiative and multi-task in order to manage time-sensitive deliverables with intra team dependencies
• Ability to balance conflicting priorities and manage complex workloads without detailed supervision
• Ability to work independently as well as on a team
• Honed attention to detail and ability to raise potential issues
• Very strong verbal and written communication skills are required
• Strong Analytical Skills and Excellent presentation skills required
