Position : Hadoop/Monitor Engineer with Ganglia exp.

Location : Sunnyvale, CA

Duration : 6+ Months

 

Experience: 6+ year

Required Skills:
   Ganglia  (gmond, gmetad)  or any other Metric gathering method.
    Monitoring experience with various host, application, performance monitoring tools
    Full concepts of Monitoring and Alerting solutions and use cases
    Unix command line and unix tools.
    System administration experience.

Good to have:
   Version Control
   Agile Dev Process
   RRDtool or any other time series file storage solution.
   Monit
   Splunk (log searches)
   Graphite
   Rundeck (script running daemon)
   Riemann (clojure) alerting
   Python
   Shell scripting
   Git

OS:
  Centos 5, 6, 6.5
  OEL 5.5-6.5

The candidate would be responsible for deploying and maintaining the monitoring and alert solution. This requires configuring all the systems including access control and scripting at a user level (no sudo or root access). Working with the SE to keep the monitoring system healthy, secure and up to date.

Working with the iOS team in creating and verify alerts, making daily reports and real time dashboards.  It is possible to use Rundeck to automate certain tasks that can do clean up, repair and restarts as the iOS team gain experience running the iOS submission pipeline.

Daily analysis of Metric data for anomalies, systems health.
Daily testing of Alerts and verification of working alerting system
