Description:
Senior VMWare Engineer Level 3
Seeking Senior VMWare Engineer Level 3 to support our Cloud based server environments in our Phoenix, Arizona Data Center.
Responsibilities for this role would include:
o Ability to work with minimal supervision
o Assumes total responsibility for work assigned and delivers on commitments
o Takes ownership of problems and/or issues and ensures timely resolution
o Proactively identifies opportunities for improvement of the computing environments
o Is able to respond quickly and adapt to changes in priorities driven by a dynamic marketplace
o Assists management in the development of server and data center standards to reduce business operating costs
o Collaborates with other IT teams in the implementation of processes which enhance the stability of IT and business operations
o Solves problems related to installation, implementation, maintenance, and operations of client infrastructure.
o Identifies opportunities for ongoing consolidation, virtualization, and efficiency based improvements
o VMware Administration on various platforms. Advanced
o VMware assessments\design and implementation. Advanced
o Cisco UCS as Compute Platform, Design, Implementation and troubleshooting. Advanced.
o Install, configure, maintain and support Windows Server 2003/2008/2012 operating systems software for all local and remote systems.
o 2003/2008/2012 Active Directory design and implementation. Advanced.
o Design hardware configurations and conduct hardware capacity planning for VMware and UCS environments.
o Install, evaluate and maintain service packs, hot-fixes and security patches on VMware and Cisco UCS systems.
o Carry out modifications and upgrades for software / hardware on VMware/UCS systems in accordance with Change Control Procedures - (following CGI's Change Control process is considered a condition of employment when hiring)
o Analyze and resolve problems that may arise during the course of normal operations. Advanced Troubleshooting skills.
o Team work oriented
Technical:
o Extensive working experience in Large Enterprise environments.
o Extensive working experience with project based solutions for our client community.
o Extensive working experience in administering, engineering, designing VMware and UCS solutions and the application of Group and security policy in heterogeneous networking environments.
o Minimum 4 years solid working experience on VMware Platforms.
o Minimum 4 years practical experience as a Senior Windows 2003/2008/2012 systems engineer
o Minimum 4 years solid working experience on Cisco UCS Platforms (Implementation, Design, Troubleshooting). (This is a NON-NEGOTIABLE)
o At least 2 years working experience with vCloud director, VCOPS, VCAC, vCO, VCM, SRM.
o Experience with VMware scripting for automation tasks
o Advanced VMware and Cisco UCS troubleshooting skills.
o Participate in department initiatives for Problem, Change Management and Contingency Planning as required.
o Practical Working knowledge of network (Cisco Switches, Firewall and Routers security practices) related to design and implementation of Cisco UCS and VMware platforms.
o Demonstrated deep technical knowledge of Microsoft and VMWare technology software stacks
o Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, including presentation
o Organizational skills, time management
o People management including training, development and relationship building
o Demonstrated operational management of large environments.
o Demonstrated strategic and proactive thinking in previous role
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
o Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
o VMware Certified Professional.
o Preferable Cisco UCS Certified
