Position:: VMWare / Linux Engineer

Location:: Woonsocket, RI

Duration:: 1+ year

 

Description :-

 

Hands on VMWARE / Red Hat and Solaris engineer – primary roles are engineering solution delivery for Fortune 12 Healthcare company. Work closely with the Domain Architect to ensure translations from Architect to Engineer requirements are specified. Additional responsibilities include defining standards for Red Hat, Solaris, VMware implementations, create clear engineer design documentation, work with System Integrators and Build teams on either design or standards. Ensure professional and timely communication is provided. Facility timely and effective remediation of issues/concerns.  

 

Required skills :-

 

·         In-depth knowledge of Red Hat Linux distributions and the Linux kernel - Red Hat Linux 4, 5 and 6

·         In-depth knowledge of AIX 5.3, AIX 6.1, Aix 7.1, Power 6 and Power7

·         In-depth knowledge of Windows Server 2003, 2008, 2012

·         Virtualization experience with VMware

·         Hands-on experience working in a data center (e.g. racking, cabling, power, capacity planning, best practices)

·         Experience deploying operating system builds and patches (e.g. kickstart, jumpstart)

·         Experience supporting and troubleshooting JAVA based applications (e.g. Sun, BEA, IBM JVMs)

·         Experience supporting and troubleshooting database infrastructure (e.g. Oracle RAC, Sybase, MySQL)

·         System monitoring and trending (e.g. NetIQ, Sitescope, etc)

·         Shell scripting (e.g. Bash, Korn, Cshell)

·         Network based storage (e.g. EMC, Isilon)

·         Authentication methods and systems (e.g. Siteminder, LDAP, AD)

·         Visio and general documentation skills

·         Strong written and verbal communication skills
