Oracle Database Administrator – Contract to Hire - Buffalo, NY (Remote Work Available)

 

Our large local client is looking for an Oracle DBA for a long term contract with the goal of converting to a direct hire role. They are ideally looking for a local candidate who is looking to stay for the long run. Consultant must be able to come onsite in Buffalo, NY occasionally, however this can be mostly remote. Only those who can be converted to direct hire will be considered. 

 

Description:

• Responsible for Administration of Oracle Databases: Installing, configuring and tuning
• Routine daily, weekly and monthly monitoring and maintenance of all database environments
• Ensuring database consistency and integrity
• Keeping database servers up to date and patched
• Coordinate migration of data and database objects between environments
• Implement existing backup strategy for all databases including data redundancy and procedures for disaster recovery
• Troubleshooting performance issues (3^rd party and In-house applications)
• Assist in planning and implementing high quality environments

Required Experience:

• Associates degree required, Bachelors is preferred.
• Strong communication skills a must
• Ability to work as part of a team
• 5+ years' experience functioning as an Oracle DBA supporting a production environment
• Experience using SQL and PL/SQL

Additional Desired Experience:

• Knowledge of database principles: database design, backup and recovery procedures, query optimization, stored procedures, triggers and performance tuning
• Familiarity with replication and clustering, Data Guard, Exadata, and RAC
• Experience with enterprise scheduling tools, preferably Autosys
