Job Description:

 

Responsibilities

·         The Network Engineer is responsible for the design, support, and maintenance of network devices in a highly complex lab environment. 

·         This person will be responsible for handling/leading Lab migration which is currently going on and is responsible for configuring and migrating most of the devices.

·         This person is also responsible for the support and maintenance of all networking elements in the environment.

·         This person should be highly experienced designing networks and connectivity between multiple sites/networks and AWS.

·         In addition to providing support during normal business hours, the engineer will provide on-call support and periodic support for scheduled off-hours maintenance.

·         The ideal candidate must have the ability to think quickly and respond appropriately to alerts/issues.

 

Network Devices currently in the environment:

 

Cisco 6509 switches, Cisco Nexus 7K, Cisco 3750 switches, Dell Powerconnect switches, Dell Force-10 switches, Cisco ACE-20 Loadbalancer, F5 4500 Big-IP Loadbalancer, Check Point firewalls, Fortigate FW.

 

7+ years of experience in Network Engineering

•                    5+ years experiencing with network design leveraging Cisco, F5 and Check Point hardware

•                    5+ years of network experience with Cisco routers and switches.

•                    5+ years of experience managing Cisco Catalyst 6500 Series and Nexus 7K switches

•                    5+ years of experience managing F5 Big IP loadbalancer and VIPRION systems

•                    5+ years of experience managing Checkpoint Security Gateway appliances (Power-1 series)

•                    2+ years of experience managing Checkpoint Security Management appliances (Smart-1 series)

•                    2+ years of experience managing and supporting Fortigate appliances

•                    Expert level knowledge and experience troubleshooting complex network issues with Cisco, F5, Check Point and Fortigate devices

•                    Expert level understanding and experience with routing and switching technologies

•                    Expert level understanding and experience with routing protocols, specifically BGP, OSPF.

•                    Expert level understanding and experience with 802.1q, STP, RSTP, VLANs.

•                    Expert knowledge of configuration, deployment, and support for Cisco Catalyst 6500 Series and Nexus

•                    Expert level knowledge of firewall management, preferably with Checkpoint and Cisco ASA firewalls

•                    Expert level knowledge of load balancing technologies, preferably with Cisco ACE and F5 Load Balancers

•                    Expert level understanding and experience with IPSEC VPN(s) tunnels.

•                    Expert TCP/IP packet analysis, using WireShark or raw packet captures using tcpdump.

•                    Exceptional analytical and problem solving skills, with logical problem solving from Layer 1 through Layer 7 of the OSI model

•                    Specific expertise in configuration of Checkpoint firewall rules, NAT'ing, Site-to-Site VPN connections, IPS, OSPF, BGP, RIP, QoS, Active-Active and Active-Passive failover, SmartView Tracker

 

Qualifications

•                    Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from a four-year college or university and 5+ experience managing complex network infrastructure in for large environments

•                    Cisco and/or Citrix network certifications.

•                    Technical Lead experience or senior level escalations experience

•                    Strong problem solving and root cause identification skills.

•                    Strong analytical and decision making abilities

•                    Exceptional documentation skills are required

•                    Ability to handle multiple complex projects simultaneously and to adapt to changing priorities

•                    Strong ability to effectively recognize, research, and analyze new technologies

•                    Must be a team player and able to work with internal team, external vendors, and 3rd party service providers.

•                    Experience with high availability environments with 99.99% SLA

•                    Ability to express complex situational information verbally and in written form

•                    Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communications skills

•                    Ability to complete tasks with minimal supervision

•                    Able to work effectively at all levels in an organization.

•                    Ability to work well under pressure
