Location: Emeryville, CA

Duration: 6+ Months

Interview Mode: Telephonic Then F2F

As a SQL Server DBA you will be responsible for supporting the SQL Server databases as well as the MongoDB databases.
You will ensure their availability, performance, and security.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Respond to and resolve database access and performance issues
Actively monitor the databases to ensure secure availability and performance within internal and external SLAs
Monitor and ensure that the various database backup operations are successful
Maintain, create, and monitor various ETL processes
Establish and maintain appropriate end-user database control levels
Work with application development and production support staff to provide guidance and ensure coding standards are adhered to Create or support the creation of reports required for internal and external clients
Deploy database scripts to production in a continuous development environment
Proactively monitor and request physical data storage for database systems
Escalate problems to the senior DBAs, and/or development teams as appropriate

Position Requirements:
Strong understanding of database structures, theories, principles, and practices
Technical, hands-on experience designing, building, installing, configuring and supporting database servers
Hands-on database tuning and troubleshooting experience
Experience managing multiple RDBMS (SQL Server) on large enterprise systems
Experience managing No-SQL (MongoDB) systems on sharded systems a plus
Good written and oral communication skills
Good interpersonal skills
A positive attitude in a high-pressure environment is required
Ability to conduct research into database issues, standards, and products as required
Highly self-motivated and directed
Keen attention to detail
Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities

Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
Strong customer service orientation
Knowledge of MongoDB required

Strong knowledge of SQL Server 2008 R2 required
Strong T-SQL skills required
Minimum of 4-5 years of SQL Server DBA experience
