Senior Oracle DBA

Location: Detroit, MI

Duration: 12 months

Engagement Description:  

With general guidance and coaching, should be able to maintain and support physical databases on specific database technologies.  Designs and develops backup, recovery, archiving and conversion strategies.  Designs and develops physical layers of various databases.  Utilizes logical model to ensure efficient and reliable database performance.  Manages and maintains data in all production and non-production databases.  Manages database distribution, security and access requirements.  Adheres to administrative policies and procedures, priorities and methodologies.  Performs testing, reporting, backup and restoration of data.  Performs installation and upgrade of database software.  Significant creativity is required.  Ability to work in a team environment and good communication skills.  

Top Three Skills/Experience

- At least five years experience supporting the development of Oracle applications on distributed platforms

- Experience with Oracle RAC

- Experience with Oracle version 11g

Required Skills/Experience

- Oracle DBA with RAC experience.  

- At least five years relational database technology expertise 

- At least five years of experience in SQL and PL/SQL coding 

- Experience with Oracle RAC 

- Experience with Oracle version 11g 

- Significant experience in identifying and resolving SQL performance issues through tuning

Preferred Skills/Experience

- Experience with Other versions of Oracle

- Experience in writing Shell scripts and scheduling the jobs on Unix server.

- Should be able to use OEM for database administration

Educational Requirements:

Bachelors degree in Computer Science or any equivalent degree preferred
