Job Title: Java Developer

Job Description:
Position reports directly to Sr. Director of Engineering and will be positioned to provide substantial contributions to the airline industry. Requires a self-motivated, high-performing software engineer or senior software engineer with demonstrable aptitude for learning and applying new technologies; taking the initiative on a fast-paced, self-organizing Scrum team; being a champion for Agile, XP and software craftsmanship principles. Preferred experience developing user interface, service tier and data tier components for complex applications, including server-based web applications. Preferred experience developing web applications in a cloud environment, especially Amazon Web Services.
Specifically, this role works with 7-8 other software engineers, together responsible for building high-volume transaction web applications for a multi-tenant SaaS platform. You will participate in the design, implementation, testing and deployment of the software encompassing all aspects of our products including UI, middleware messaging/ESB (JBoss), and MySQL Database. The appropriate candidate will have experience supporting and maintaining solutions across all phases of the application development lifecycle and across the entirety of the technology stack. Preferred experienced in utilizing automated testing and automated build solutions like JUnit, Selenium, and Hudson CI services to guarantee product and release quality. Preferred experience and/or familiarization with Agile methodologies, XP, TDD and software craftsmanship.
Required Experience
· Bachelor's degree in Computer Science; Master's degree in Computer Science desired.
· 4+ years of professional experience developing object oriented web-based applications.
· Desire and ability to work with clients, gather business requirements and develop technical requirements
· Extremely strong written and verbal communication skills
· Extremely analytical mind capable of troubleshooting extremely complex issues.
· Able to effectively consult with clients to solicit requirements and troubleshoot complex issues.
Required Technical Skills:
· Expert programming skills in Java, including developing data structures, multi-threaded processes, and unique algorithms.
· Substantial experience developing applications using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
· Substantial working knowledge of relational databases (MySQL, MS SQL) and Hibernate
Other Preferred Technical Skills:
· Expert OO design and programming knowledge and ability to apply it
· Expert knowledge of JBoss 7.1+ and J2EE technologies
· Experience with system administration of Linux server infrastructure.
· Experience with Amazon Web Services.
· Experience with mobile app development technologies such as Android, iOS, HTML 5
· Experience with Struts, Spring, Faces
· Knowledge of SOA architectures and web services
· Knowledge of source control repositories
Primary Responsibilities:
· Successfully complete key deliverables in our Software Development Process, including Analysis & Design, Technical Architecture, Development, and Testing. Agile Process experience preferred.
· Provide regular project updates to stakeholders and escalate issues to ensure project risks are managed appropriately.
· Work with product owner, software engineers and other stakeholders to ensure that product is designed and implemented to meet current and future needs of the customers.
· Participate in project planning and management, including development of timelines, leveling of resources and managing tasks for quality, schedule and budget.
