Role: Automation Test Engineer

Duration: Long Term

Location : Sterling, VA

 

Job Description:

·         As a Software Engineer in Test, He/She will have the opportunity to accelerate the delivery and to improve the quality of the products.

·         He/She will be responsible for designing and implementing development and test infrastructure.

·         He/She will be part of an Engineering team that is working on problems in a number of areas, including X1 Guide Application, DVR, caching optimizations, machine learning, and mobile products. Your focus is developing code rather than fixing or finding bugs. His/Her job is to accelerate product development by helping developers help themselves.

·         He/She will typically work in small, nimble teams that collaborate on common problems across products and across focus areas.

·         As a result, he/she will have exposure to a broader set of problems, which allows for fast career growth and proximity to abundant technical problems.

·         He/She will be focused on the hardest, most interesting aspects of delivering high quality software.

·         For someone who wants to learn and grow as an engineer, having access to all of client's products and platforms, along with the vast compute infrastructure, provides a unique opportunity.

 

Responsibilities

·         Build advanced automated test suites to exercise our world-class applications.

·         Write automated test scripts that allow for repeatable, reliable testing solutions.

·         Drive test scripting efforts; innovating on existing processes.

·         Work with the development and test engineering teams to automate testing.

·         Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.

·         Analyze and decompose a complicated software system and design a strategy to test this system.

 

Minimum qualifications

·         BS/MS in Computer Science or related technical field or equivalent practical experience.

·         Relevant internship or work experience, including development and/or test automation experience.

 

Preferred qualifications

·         7-10 years of professional programming experience, QA/test automation experience preferred.

·         Expert in any high level programming language, such as, C++, C#, Java, Ruby, etc.

·         Knowledge in most of: HTML5, XML, CSS 3, Javascript, Jquery, AJAX, web standards, browser compatibility/workarounds, data structures, accessibility laws and development techniques, HTTP and RESTful web services, Java

·         Working knowledge with REST APIs, verifying HTTP responses, methods, headers, etc.

·         Experience working in Agile test teams delivering medium to large-scale distributed applications into production, and an excellent understanding of the issues involved.

·         Experience with Continuous Integration and related tools such as, Jenkins, Hudson, Maven, etc.

·         Experience with Code Quality Governance related tools, such as, Zephyr, confluence, Cobertura, JIRA, etc.

·         Experience with distributed source control systems such as Git.

·         Experience with Cucumber, RSpec, jmeter, Capybara, Selenium, and similar technologies

·         Experience in creating, executing and debugging automated testing framework using programming languages such as Python, Ruby and Java.

·         Experience building web applications in Java and / or Ruby

·         Working experience using off the shelf tools such as Parasoft

·         Working experience on Windows and Linux platforms for both GUI and command line interfaces.

·         Use of non-sql databases such as Cassandra, Mongo DB, or couchbase.

·         Working experience in requirements definition, documentation test strategies and defect management

·         Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate as part of a team. Creative, self-motivated team player willing to take the lead to develop cutting-edge innovative solutions.

·         Curiosity to learn the newest techniques and technologies.
