Description

 

IntelXchange Operations team is looking for an experienced systems operations expert to join the team. We are responsible for the deployment and operations of all IntelXchange installations, whether hosted or locally installed at customer site. IntelXchange is a semi-real-time Data Integration, Data Analysis and Business Process Automation platform that hides the complexity of the underlying Systems-of-Record, enabling the users to build their own strategic business processes. The team is located in Iceland, Dallas, Krakow and Montevideo and growing rapidly.

 

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• Installing, configuring and maintaining Unix/Linux systems 
• Deploy, maintain and operate a large, mission critical application which is written in Java and using Linux, Oracle, MQ Websphere and Tomcat 
• Provide 24x7x365 third-level on-call support as part of a rotation for high-profile travel-related hosted applications 
• Systematically troubleshoot difficult and/or complex application, system, and/or network issues as they arise 
• Define and document a process to ensure that the components that make up a production service have adequate capacity and scalability to handle anticipated traffic volumes 
• Act as part of the implementation team as changes are being introduced into the certification/staging and production environments. Perform gatekeeper role to ensure that the production environment is protected from change. 
• Automation of maintenance and operations activities through scripting and/or small Perl/Unix applications/scripts. 
• Work closely with the other infrastructure areas such as Network, Database and Storage teams to deliver highly performing, scalable architectures 
• Advises architecture and product development on technical hardware and software issues as well as proposals for enhancements to improve site availability, reliability, and/or performance. 
• Participate in defining, designing and implementing highly available, fault tolerant hardware and software solutions. 
• Participate in the smooth transition of new and modified services into production. 
• Proposes and implements system enhancements (software and hardware updates) that will improve the performance and reliability of systems. 

Qualifications

 

Educational Qualification
Desirable: BSc/MSc in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or equivalent work experience.

 

Specialist/Technical Knowledge, Skills and Aptitude:

• Advanced understanding of operations of Linux, Oracle, SQL, Java, MQ Websphere and web/application servers (Apache, Tomcat), ).
• Software and System Deployment/Operations experience
• Rich experience in administrating and hosting distributed computer systems
• Knowledge of security technologies, practices, and protocols
• Excellent written and spoken English skills is a requirement
• Highly effective communication skills, both verbal and written
• Good problem diagnostics skills and experience
• Airline domain experience is preferable
• Knowledge of Change Management and SaaS is a plus
