Job Description – Microsoft Visual Basic, Cobol, Visual C++ Engineer
(Non-Developer – L3)
Essential functions:
Reporting to the Manager, Application Operations, the Technical Project Manager performs critical design and systems implementation activities in the area of Application Operations with a focus on consolidation and capacity planning across existing corporate Web hosting environments and acts as a SME on MS Technologies (ASP Classic, ASP .NET, VB, PB, C, C++, C#, Cobol, Visual C++) used in Windows environments and sets standards working with Application Architects. Additionally, the Engineer will work with the Application Operations Team Project Leads in project planning and execution.
Responsibilities to include overseeing:
· Thoroughly understands ASP Classic, ASP.NET, VB (Visual Basic), PB (Power Builder), C, C++, C#, Cobol, Visual C++ Environment creation and management for respective application.
· Application Server/Web Server configuration standards.
· Hosting and Database environment HA design.
· Troubleshooting and finding RCAs in hosting and database environments.
· Data collections and capacity planning.
· New technologies review and evaluation.
· Hosting environment fine tuning and performance optimization.
Highly Desired:
· Proven ability to produce comprehensive analysis backed up by data collection and testing.
· Server Engineering: Knowledge of Storage Area Networks, H/A disk arrays, NAS, Unix, Windows and Linux OS.
· Networking: Switches, routers, sniffers, routing protocols F5 Big IP, FTP, Firewalls, Appliance Proxies, DNS, and various protocols.
· Security: Detailed understanding of intrusion detection, port security, Server and Application hardening, encryption, PKI, SSL/Certificate management and LDAP.
· ITIL awareness.
Experience:
· Minimum 7 years (L3) of comprehensive experience in mentioned technologies and problem solving experience with mentioned applications, infrastructure and IP network issues.
