Job Title:SQL DBA
Location:Greensboro,NC
Duration:6+ Months Contract

 

Responsibility :
Purpose of Job: Manage, Monitor, Administer, and Support multiple SQL Server database systems. SQL Server 2008 R2 is the primary database. Provide Infrastructure team support for database configuration, performance, security, clustering, etc. Provide non-business-hours database support as required.

 

Typical Minimum Knowledge and Skills
Installing and configuring SQL Server Clustered Databases
Administration of SQL Server Clustered Databases
Installing upgrades and patches to SQL Server Clustered Databases
Troubleshooting SQL Server database performance
Understanding database file sizing options and their implications
Backup and Recovery of databases
Designing a database to recover and roll back data when needed
Troubleshooting database issues
Writing TRANSACT-SQL scripts and SQL Server Integration Services packages enabling database process automation, ease of use, etc.
Security Administration and Configuration of SQL Server databases.
Understanding of SQL Server Clustered Databases, Log Shipping and Transparent Data Encryption technologies
Working in a multi-tiered application environment
Working in a Windows environment
Setting up and supporting database connection pooling
Setting up and supporting database clustering
Setting up and supporting database replication
Understanding and using database monitoring tools
Understanding and using change management systems
Willing to work on all platforms and databases used by United Guaranty
Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment
Experienced in mentoring and cross training
Proficient in time management, planning, and organizational skills
Excellent oral, written communication skills.

 

Additional Pluses:
Microsoft SQL Server education coursework or certification
Exposure to and/or experience with Oracle or DB2
