Role: Hadoop DBA Lead

Location: Brunswick, NJ

Duration: 6 months


Consultants having 4 years of experience with Hadoop administration, previous experience should be linux admin.

 

                    Hadoop - Deep Hadoop & HDFS understanding

                    Hadoop Cluster - Able to deploy Hadoop cluster, add and remove nodes, figure out why a job is stuck or failing, configure and tune the cluster, find the bottlenecks, monitor critical parts of the cluster, configure name-node high availability, pick a scheduler and configure it to meet SLAs, and sometimes even take backups.

                    Linux - Good knowledge of Linux - Linux security, configuration, tuning, troubleshooting, and monitoring. Linux scripting (perl / bash)

                    Java - Need to be able to read Java error messages, understand concepts of Java virtual machines and a bit about tuning them, and write small Java programs that can help in trouble shooting

                    Deployment Tools - Familiarity with open source configuration management and deployment tools such as Puppet or Chef.

                    Troubleshooting skills - Understanding of system's capacity, bottlenecks, basics of memory, CPU, OS, storage, and networks
