Skills and Competencies

·         Broad hands-on knowledge of firewalls, intrusion detection systems, anti-virus software, data encryption, and other industry-standard techniques and practices.

·         Working technical knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, and Internet standards.

·         Excellent hardware troubleshooting experience.

·         Strong knowledge of TCP/IP and network administration/protocols.

·         Knowledge of network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, VPN and associated network protocols and concepts (SNMP, HTTP/HTTPS, SMTP, NTP, LDAP, KERBEROS, SFTP, etc.).

·         Knowledge of applicable practices and laws relating to data privacy and protection.

·         Intermediate to expert IDS/IPS knowledge.

·         Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to enable effective security incident and problem resolution.

·         Ability to work well under minimal supervision.

·         Ability to analyze audit and security information.

·         Communicate effectively (in oral and written form) with a variety of individuals; author design documents with the assistance of a project leader; work well within small and large team environments; and

analyze problems and resolve issues with both short-term workarounds and long-term solutions.
