- As a subject matter expert, develops and presents recommendations from accurate assessments and/or analysis. Offers solutions and designs to solve process, project or program issues; provides recommendations to improve the efficiency and effectiveness. Defends a recommendation and can confidently support it.
- Independently possesses the ability to diagnose complex situations into manageable parts.
- Works collaboratively with stakeholders to understand constraints and expectations.

Position Responsibilities

- 5 to 7 details defining the unique responsibilities of this position, specific to its department, listed in order of importance. Enter "% of Time Spent" each bullet, totaling to 100%.
• 25% - Design and build conceptual solutions, proof of concepts, prototypes as per business needs. Support architects/management to deliver estimates for level of effort and timelines.
• 15% - Envision system features and functionality; prepare functional specifications, technical specifications, unit test cases, system/data flow diagrams, implementation plans and training documents. Create and execute test plans, fix defects, provide QA/UAT support and perform implementation activities to deliver solutions.
• 10% - Facilitates decision making based on observations, validation and recommendations. Identifies roadblocks & constraints that could impact the delivery of solutions. Coaches & trains team members on both application and technology aspects.
• 5% - Recommend/follow and educate other developers on all programming, testing, security, documentation and release management standards.
• 5% - Communicates effectively in written and verbal form and provides on-going status, project planning, on progress of design, build & implementation tasks & deliverables.

Required

- 5 to 7 details capturing education, extent of experience (range of years, kind, etc.), skills, etc. Generally will be consistent with qualifications use for the common job and specific to this position.

Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree or equivalent retail or IS experience.
- 6-8+ years with the MicroStrategy BI Suite including 9.x experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to communicate with multiple levels of the organization.
- Knowledge of the SDLC and development methodologies.
- Demonstrated ability in understanding of source and target data structures, ETL processes, and products.
- Demonstrated understanding of core business analytical needs in the retail industry.
- Strong leadership and mentoring ability.

 Position Specific Qualifications –
- 8 + years experience developing/administration with MicroStrategy 9.x tool set.
- MicroStrategy Certified Developer (MCD) or equivalent experience
- 8 + years experience with two or more of the following Database Environments: Oracle, Teradata, Netezza, Exadata, SQL Server; experience with Teradata is preferred.
- Minimum 2 years additional experience with any common BI tools.
- Able to design and develop Business Intelligence solutions.
- Ability to analyze and evaluate incoming data from many disparate data sources to inform data modeling and ETL design decisions for large data integration projects.
- Ability to interpret data linkages, hierarchies, sequencing, and nuances in new data sources.
- Advanced SQL programming skills.
- Experience in Unix/Shell programming.
 - Working knowledge of data modeling tools
