Job Title: IT - Data Analyst III

Duration: 12+ Months

Work Location: Richfield, MN

 

Department:

Agile Located Team – Work in an Open Lab within an entire infrastructure of other labs. Part of the technology organization in DotCom. Enable under lying functionality for websites and other products. Team will always be a small team of about 10.

 

Skills Overview:

What are the MUST have skills that you are looking for in a candidate?

•             Critical thinking skills.

•             Experience working within a close-knit, collaborative team.

•             Comfort working as a peer member of a high functioning team of responsible, self-motivated individuals.

•             Comfort with shared/collaborative documentation and diagramming tools such as wikis (we use Confluence), Gliffy, JIRA and Google Docs.

•             Ability to alternate focus between near-term minimally viable product increment and long-term fully-loaded product vision.

•             Experience and ability to shift focus fluently from one area of focus to another as strategy and timing dictate.

•             Oriented toward results and problem-solving.

•             Comfort and experience wearing "multiple hats" – more attachment to results than to any particular title or role.

•             Flexibility and willingness to tackle a variety of tasks to deliver team outcomes

 

What are the technologies and the depth of the technologies that a candidate must have in order to be successful in this role?

Responsibilities/Deliverables that the resource will be responsible for:

•             Learning and deeply understanding our current data domain, sources, and structures.

•             Seeking out new and/or better sources of data, and new and/or unexpected uses for existing data.

•             Exploring and examining data from multiple disparate sources to uncover trends, patterns and hidden insights.

•             Contributing to the discovery and definition of acceptance criteria and specific acceptance tests.

•             Collaborating in the automation of acceptance tests.

•             Investigating acceptance and/or regression test failures.

•             Working closely with Operations, Community Management, Developers, and Customers to build meaningful product and process feedback loops.

•             Transferring information to external teams as changes move to production.

•             Sussing out edge cases via exploratory testing.

 

What would a normal day for this position look like??

•             Stand up every morning with the team.

•             Every day is going to differ depending on the data and where it is driving the team.

•             Work closely with Operations, Heads Down Analysis and Queries.

1.            How does the role of analyst differ on a self-directed team versus on a traditional, hierarchical team?

2.            Describe a time when, during initial or main analysis, your findings led you to recommend changes to a process.

3.            How do you approach data analysis across disparate data sources?

4.            How do you keep current with emerging trends, tools, and technologies in the software industry?
