Position: Data Architect & Modeler

Location: Chicago, IL 

Longterm contract

Create cutting-edge data architecture and data model solutions for multiple data platforms, collaborate with business subject matter experts in healthcare industries, establish and drive data architecture and data modeling thought leadership.

The focus of this position will be on defining and promoting best practices in ETL/Data architecture and data modeling by collaborating with data intake team, DBA and developers to provide sound data framework for applications, easy data access for analysts on multiple data platforms (Vertica, SQL Server).  This role will be responsible for creating and maintaing enterprise wide data dictionary, datamodel and data architecture  artifacts.

Position involves rapidly developing dimensional models or analytical data sets based on specific business requirements. Experience in ER - dimensional model design and implementation of STAR and SNOWFLAKE schemas is a must. Strong foundation in industry standard SQL and Data Warehousing design concepts is required. Experience with BI and Informatica ETL is required. Experience with advanced analytics, Vertica,  Hadoop, data mining is a very big plus.

Skills:

·         Analyzing functional and non-functional business requirements and translate into technical data requirements and create or update existing logical and physical data models

·         Creating data logical and physical data models and refining as necessary

·         Facilitating data modeling sessions ranging from information gathering to model validation

·         Creating the data architecture sections of the overall system design artifact

·         Analyzing data access and modification requirements to ensure SQL and optimal DB design

·         Reverse and Forward Data Modeling

·         DB Design of Relational structures along with data warehouses, data marts and data mining

·         Experience:

·         At least 10 year experience in combined experience in data warehousing, BI and application development.

·         At least 5 year hands on experience designing and implementing Star Schemas

·         At least 5 year experience implementing DW presentation layer - including design and definition of logical tables, physical sources, dimensions, columns, aggregation rules

·         At least 5 year experience in writing advanced SQL queries, views, and optimization of SQL queries

·         Comprehensive Knowledge of Ralph Kimball's Data Modeling Concepts including Transaction dimensions, conformed dimensions and facts, slowly changing dimension, multi-Star/ Snowflake Schema Modeling, different types of Fact tables

·         At least 2 year hands on experience with 3NF Data Modeling and NORMALIZED schema

·         Comprehensive Knowledge of Bill Inmon's Data Modeling Concepts (Logical and Physical) including 3NF, Supertypes, Subtypes, Abstraction, Associative entities / tables
