Applications Developer - LEVEL III

Designs, develops, enhances, debugs, and implements software.  Troubleshoots production problems related to software applications.  Researches, tests, builds, and coordinates the conversion and/or integration of new products based on client requirements. Designs and develops new software products or major enhancements to existing software.  Evaluates effectiveness.  Addresses problems of systems integration, compatibility, and multiple platforms.  Consults with project teams and end users to identify application requirements.  Performs feasibility analysis on potential future projects to management. Assists in the evaluation and recommendation of application software packages, application integration and testing tools.  Resolves problems with software and responds to suggestions for improvements and enhancements.  Acts as team leader on projects. Instructs, assigns, directs, and checks the work of others on the development team.  Participates in development of software user manuals and technical reports.

The Operations Team supports the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Office of Biometric Identity Management (OBIM), formerly US-VISIT program.

The Non Production Operations Support Team supports the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Office of Biometric Identity Management (OBIM), formerly US-VISIT program, is seeking a Senior WebLogic Application Engineer.

Essential Job Functions

Successful candidate will perform a variety of tasks and activities independently, which are broad in nature and are concerned with major systems engineering, integration, and implementation.

Qualifications

• Java Container Administration – Weblogic and/or Tomcat Variant required. 
• Performing ear/war file deployment in any of the Java products. 
• TIBCO, MQ, Postfix and Oracle database knowledge needed to track various messages and troubleshoot. 
• Networking knowledge, TCP/IP understanding, troubleshooting skills needed. 
• Scripting bash, ksh or perl. 
• Startup/Shutdown, verifying logs for application/system/network issues and tracking them across different components and troubleshooting them. 
• Good analytical and problem solving skills. 
• Working knowledge of SQLPLUS, queries/commands in Oracle databases. 
• Unix Administration Knowledge is helpful in troubleshooting various application issues. AIX or Solaris or RedHat are desired. 
• Ability to work in a team environment.

 

Must Have Skills:
