Job Description
The scope of responsibility includes the following:
• Interfaces with internal customers to gather requirements and provide recommendations on complex technical tasks.
• Implements, maintains and supports application software
• Independently performs analysis to develop and implement high level designs for assigned projects.
• Remains current on industry standards and advances within area of expertise
• Diagnoses complex system problems and system performance problems using available standard performance tools
• Participates in design, code and test reviews
• Finds and recommends opportunities for continuous improvement
• Makes recommendations towards the development of new code or reuse of existing code
• May participate in component and data architecture design, performance monitoring, product evaluation and buy versus build recommendations
• Makes recommendations on the impact and implementation of new technologies/development methodologies
• Works closely with Business Analysis, Project Management, and Solutions Architect functions to ensure correct technical design
• Authors technical documentation
• Participates in the development of technical standards
Qualifications
• Experience with semantic technologies, linked data, and RDF
• Knowledge of one or more triple-store or graph database technologies
• Working experience with text processing algorithms (Levenshtein distance, Jaro-Winkler, etc.)
• Knowledge of taxonomies, ontologies, text mining, or NLP a plus
• Experience with one or more of the following technologies:
§ NoSQL databases such as MongoDB or HBase
§ Big Data and MapReduce technologies such as Hadoop
§ Enterprise search technology such as SOLR
§ Cloud computing environments such as Amazon Web Services a plus
• Working understanding of the software development lifecycle including design, coding, testing and delivery
• Experience working on agile development teams with an understanding of Test Driven Development concepts and testing frameworks (JUnit, SoapUI, Selenium)
• Experience in systems analysis, design and a solid understanding of development, quality assurance and integration methodologies
• Demonstrated experience with successful execution of enterprise scale commercial software delivery.
• Java web developer skills (Servlets, JSPs, JNDI, XML config)
• Java application servers such as Tomcat or Websphere and REST web services
• Hands-on experience with software build and continuous integration technologies (e.g. Jenkins, Ant, Maven, CVS, SVN, GIT, etc.)
• Experience with MVC frameworks (e.g. Spring MVC).
• Query languages and standards such as SQL, XPath, XQuery, SPARQLAn understanding of healthcare and/or the publishing industry domain a plus
• 7-10 years of relevant work experience
• Bachelors Degree or Equivalent
