Our direct client is looking for a Senior Software/Systems Engineer to assist with the development of a rootfs for the RDK software stack.

The RDK software stack is the result of an initiative by cable companies to develop a Linux-based software stack that is optimized for set-top devices using components that are strictly sourced using a shared-source model or from the open source community.

Title: Senior Software/Systems Engineer
Location: Downingtown, PA
Duration: 6+ months

Requirements

• BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related fields.
• At least 10 years of Linux-based development experience with a strong focus on embedded devices in a cross-platform environment.
• Strong working experience building a Linux-based root filesystem with emphasis on the following
o Good working knowledge of System V and system-d initialization.
o Good working knowledge of Linux FHS, LFS, LSB and other Linux standards for building a root
• Good working knowledge Linux kernel and driver development and configuration.
• Experience troubleshooting initialization and run-time issues of Linux-based platforms.
• Strong working knowledge of C, C++, Bash and Python.
• Good working knowledge of Git and SVN is required.
• Good understanding of software best practices such as Agile-based development, coding guidelines, code reviews etc.
• Proficient in specifying system level requirements and creating design and usage documentation.
