Systems Engineer

6+ months

Brentwood, TN

 

Sr. System Engineer for IBM i-System environment.

The System Engineer will be capable of leading of and hands-on implementation of the multi Power platform environment. Expert level experience with Virtual configurations is required.

 

Required skills:

5+ current years of hands-on management of IBM i systems

Power platforms (P5, P6, P7)

IBM i V5.4, V6.1, V7.1 both from installation and configuration

BRMS,

FalconStor,

MPG,

HMS application software (Healthcare Management Systems) is preferred

PowerVM, including:

• Activating the features via IBM's COD website and activation keys
• Defining VIO server profiles including; VSCSI, VFC, and virtual Ethernet for both Server and client partitions
• Install/manage/update a VIO server
• Configuring the VIO server for VSCSI, VFC, and SEA (Share Ethernet Adapter)

 

System administration, including:

• Tuning
• Maintenance
• Debugging
• Performance monitoring
• Networking
• Some scripting (CL, RPG, RPG-ILE, Java)

SAN storage including (EMC and IBM) in an  IBM i environment.

HMC (Hardware Management Console) including:

• Installation/updating
• Configuration
• New system/frame integration
• Backup and recovery

Firm understanding of the storage/networking/security/monitoring components of IBM i

 

Knowledge/Experience of different HA/DR options available for IBM i (software & hardware).

Excellent communication skills are mandatory.

A team player and well organized.
