This is 3 - 6 Months Contract Position based in Scottsdale, AZ
Role: Automation Tester with Ruby & Grails
Location: Scottsdale, AZ
Duration: 3- 6 Months Contract
Experience : 8- 10+ years
Job Description:
Test automation developer responsible for coding/ executing automated testing utilities, programs, scripts, and frameworks.
This is not a manual test position nor is it a QTP or Performance test position. The preferred candidate will be a developer with a testing mind set. Must be competent to work in all phases of test automation development activities. Must have the ability to analyze and understand complex applications and systems and be able to program automation scripts requiring minimal intervention. Must have strong decision-making skills for problem identification and solution recommendations. Must have excellent written and oral communication skills and interact with all levels of stakeholders within the company.
Required skills:
• Understand basic coding principles (e.g.; Ruby, Grails, Python, Java)
• Knowledge and hands on experience using a Unit Test Framework (Spock, Rspec, Cucumber, TestUnit, MiniTest, Other?)
• Familiarity with concepts / best practices of Test Automation Frameworks is a plus
• With full competency and minimal supervision, code and execute complex automated scripts
• Define tests using assertion APIs
• Understanding of the MVC web-design pattern
• Basic HTML, CSS and JavaScript
• Basic version control - clone, commit, push
• Understand the basics of object-oriented APIs for Document Object Model (DOM) interaction and browser control
• Knwledge of Gherkin is a plus
• Familiar with Cucumber is a plus
• Ability to create and setup a cucumber environment using a web driver is a plus
• Understand the Rails stack - callbacks, filters, plugins, engines, gems, rack is a plus
• Use generators to create models, controllers and migrations is a plus
• Knowledge of ATDD/TDD/BDD a plus
• 1 year experience with agile test automation tools is a plus
• Experience working in an AGILE environment a plus
Preferred skills:
• Experience testing ETL
General testing skills:
• Experience with SDLC methodologies to include Agile, Waterfall, Iterative a plus
• Ability to define and manage test plans, strategies, results reporting and metrics a plus
• Ability to analyze and review requirements and technical work products a plus
• Ability to validate and report test results a plus
• Ability to map stories/requirements to test assets a plus
• Ability to prioritize, define and manage defect reporting and resolution a plus
• Previous experience with estimating test efforts a plus
• Self-motivated and capable of working with others with minimal supervision
• Flexible - able to present options and seek "best" path when ideal situations dot no occur
• Competency with HP tool suite (e.g., Quality Center) a plus
• SQL experience a plus
• SoapUI experience a plus
